The game view is starting to come into place. I’m starting to detest the UI panel for the minimap. Having everything stretch and shrink to fit whatever screen ratio you might have is pretty awful. I’ll meditate on what I really want the experience to be like in the final product, but for prototype sake I have a working room view, and a movement algorithm for getting from one room to another.
It’s basically a treadmill, the player runs in place and the world scrolls by. I’m using the DoTween animation engine from the unity asset store. I’m just moving the x position of a given room, so an entire engine is way overkill. And it would have gone quicker without it, but now I know how DoTween works and there are so many other features in DoTween that I’m sure I’ll be using. If you’re unfamiliar with tweening, it’s basically the animation of anything going from one state to another. here to there, this color to that color, this image to that image, etc.
